THE TOWN OF PAHIA RAHI

Pahia Rahi is a traditional town that is buit on the foot of Mount Oros, on a steep slope over Marathonas. It looks over the sea and it has old picturesque stony houses.
The view is beautiful towards the town of Aegina, the island Moni, Agistri, the peninsula of Marathon, Marathonas and Perdika. Pahia Pahi is one of the most important villages in the area. Many fighters from the greek revolution in 1821 were from this island.
The village had many inhaditants, a school and the inhabitants were occupied in farming and cattle-breeding. Something very special in this village is the church of Saint Dionisios with the bell-tower and the blue dome.
